Failure to Launch

Well, it's the last day of January and I'm not launching. Although the goal was never explicitly 1 startup launch per month that was kind of what I hoped to do. In reality with work + other commitments I have a lot less time for this project that I thought I would. Although that sucks I'm not throwing in the towel. Playlist Genie is still on the way in the next few weeks. After that I think I'll scale back the scope of the projects to make them more doable.

So far on this journey I've learnt a few things:

  1. I don't remember how to do web dev.
  2. How do people do web dev? It sucks.
  3. I should have started working with tools and languages I know well.

Besides that, the most important thing I've learnt is just to get on with it. I've rebuilt this thing a dozen times now, always restarting at the same bit - the bit where it gets hard. I'm not restarting because I can't do it but because I'm worried I'll fail and that fear of failure has ultimately led to failure.

Anyway - after a lot of procrastination I have finally got back to making and I'm gonna get this thing shipped. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I can write a post showing the actual product - until then I'm on Twitter.
